A fun, lighthearted, true romantic comedy.
The new film tells a story of the book editor Maddie (played by Lohan) who is secretly in love with a book author, an Irishman Paul (Alexander Vlahos). Maddie wants to express the feelings she has to Paul on the night of the latest book premiere. However, the night takes a different turn as Paul bonds with Maddie’s best friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan) instead.
A couple of months later, Paul and Emma get engaged, and are about to marry in Ireland on a beautiful country estate. Maddie puts her feelings for Paul aside to be a bridesmaid, together with another friend in the group Heather (Ayesha Curry), at their wedding in Ireland.
At the airport in Ireland Maddie has a spontaneous encounter with James (Ed Speleers), a handsome English photographer, who, as luck would have it, travels to the same small village as her.
While settling in at the country estate, days before the wedding, Maddie makes a spontaneous wish for true love and suddenly finds herself in an alternate reality – where she is the one marrying her crush Paul, instead of her friend Emma.
With her dream seeming to come true, Maddie soon realizes that her real soulmate is someone else entirely. Everything ends on a positive note with everyone being happy.
The film features stunning Irish sceneries and a true romance feeling. Irish Wish marks Linday Lohan’s second collaboration with Netflix after another (holiday) rom-com Falling for Christmas premiered in 2022.
In a 2022 Forbes interview Lohan said “I felt like the romantic comedy movies have kind of dissipated a little bit and I really miss them.”
Our inspiratioon take: Irish Wish is a fun, lighthearted romantic comedy movie that brought us to smiles throughout. Lohan is great in this genre and the film makes for a fantastic relaxing watch.
