Tashi, a former tennis prodigy turned coach, turned her husband into a champion. But to overcome a losing streak, he needs to face his ex-best friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino (known for directing ‘Call Me by Your Name’), and written by Justin Kuritzkes, the movie stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan. As a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature, she makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – ‘West Side Story’), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – ‘The Crown,’ ‘The Durrells’) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend.
It’s a tennis match 13 years in the making since the day the pair first met Tashi when they were all teenagers. Told through a nonlinear narrative that spans over a decade, the trio’s pasts and presents are explored as well as their ever-changing intentions and desires.
The love-triangle between the main protagonists takes place on an off the tennis court, has also been produced by Zendaya.
Shot around the Boston, Massachusetts area, the film also strikes with its fashion. J.W. Anderson, the creative director of the Spanish luxury clothing brand LOEWE, has created the costume design for this film.
The movie has also been heavily praised by critics and audiences alike for its notable soundtrack, composed by Trent Reznor, alongside his regular partner Atticus Ross. They have previously collaborated on films like The Social Network, Gone Girl, Soul and many more.
