While on a trip in the capital of the UK, we encountered an interesting sight: a sheep farm almost in the centre of London.

Set on a 32 acre property in East London, Mudchute is a working farm neighbouring the famous financial centre Canary Wharf.

Being one of the largest inner city farms in Europe, the contrast of the huge park with the high-rise buildings in the background really comes into play.

Watch our impressions from the Mudchute Park and Farm, London, UK.

With over 100 animals on the farm, most of the larger ones, including sheep, llamas and donkeys, graze in the outer enclosures. The smaller ones, on the other hand, have a dedicated so-called Pets Corner near the main courtyard.

The farm offers many activities for people of almost any age, such as the Animal Experience session. During a dedicated time one can meet some of the farm animals under a careful guidance of the farm workers, so that the safety of Mudchute’s little residents can be maintained.

We found the Mudchute Park and Farm to be an oasis of calm in one of the world’s busiest cities. Listening to the sounds of the nature and the sheep bleating absolutely relaxed our minds.

Mudchute Park is open all-year-around, from dawn till dusk; while the farm with the animals is open everyday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Entry is free of charge.
