Sabrina Carpenter’s new song “Espresso” is out now

Just before her debut at the Coachella festival the singer released a brand new tune, together with a super stylish music video.

“Weirdly enough, ended up writing the song in France, and I think that that probably had a little bit of inspiration to how the song ended up feeling. It just had that excitement and that energy of almost kind of traveling the world,”

Carpenter said in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

Sabrina wrote the new single and enlisted her previous collaborators GRAMMY-Award winner Amy Allen (who she co-wrote Sabrina’s recent #1 hit single “Feather” with), Julian Bunetta (“Nonsense”) who also produced the new single, and Steph Jones (“Nonsense”) on “Espresso.”

The new single comes almost two years after Sabrina released her last studio album “Emails I Can’t Send” in 2022 under Island Records.

Espresso feels extremely fresh and very on-brand for the singer, both in terms of the sound of the song as well as the lyrics. With a hint of her humor she sings lyrics like “I’m working late ’cause I’m a singer,” or “Oh, he looks so cute wrapped ’round my finger / My twisted humor make him laugh so often / My honeybee, come and get this pollen.”

The music video for Espresso has been directed by Dave Meyers who shot videos for the likes of Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, SZA, Shakira, Britney Spears and many more throughout his career. It sees Sabrina enjoying a retro-inspired (much like the single’s cover art) beachside vacation.

Carpenter will also perform during the second weekend of Coachella on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 6 p.m., on the main stage.

Our inspiratioon take: Sabrina’s sweet voice paired with the song’s sticky-like feeling is guaranteed to bring many smiles. Together with Dua Lipa’s “Illusion” we are naming it to be the songs of this summer. We love it.
